Welcome Parents!

Planned Parenthood of South Central New York, Inc. says there's no place like home for sex ed!

As Dorothy said in the classic movie The Wizard of Oz... There's no place like home. Remember Dorothy and the yellow brick road? Dorothy could see the path in front of her, but she wasn't quite sure what she would find around the next turn. Parenting can be a lot like the yellow brick road. We can see the path in front of us, but we aren't quite sure what we will encounter along the way.

At Planned Parenthood of South Central New York, Inc., we believe that there is no place like home... for sexuality education. Parents are the primary sex educators of their children. Whether you are a mom, dad, aunt, uncle, grandparent, foster parent, or just someone who cares about children, we hope the information and resources on this site will be helpful to you.

Before you start the journey of talking with your child about sexuality, stop and think for a minute (or more).

There's no place like HOME for sex ed!

What do you remember learning when you were a child? Do you want to send your children the same message you received? If not, what messages do you want to give them? And remember, it's not just talking. Our actions and attitudes also send messages. Listening to your children and understanding their behavior are equally important.

Before you get started talking, you may want to click on the ages along our yellow brick road to see how children grow as sexual people at different times in their lives.
