Letter from the Board Co-Chairs

Dear Friends,

We carry on Margaret Sanger's vision, continuing to transform society and a woman's place within it. Like Margaret Sanger, we believe that women have the right to decide when and whether to have children. That a woman's right to control her body is a basic human right. That the measure of a civilized society is how it provides for and protects its families and children, assuring that every child is truly wanted and loved.

Every major achievement in Planned Parenthood's history was made possible through the insight and commitment to social change of our most steadfast supporters. The first contributions to our cause were made to pay Margaret Sanger's bail when she was imprisoned for speaking on behalf of all women to control the number and spacing of their children. Even the 10-year development of the birth control pill was financed by a private philanthropist, Katharine Dexter McCormick, who was dedicated to medical research that would further social justice.

Today, as well, we call on our supporters and allies to ensure reproductive justice for all people, especially those who are living in poverty. Planned Parenthood never lets income stand in the way of receiving health care. We treat our patients with respect as we provide the highest quality reproductive health care and educational services.

With your continued help, we can advance our mission and ensure that our vital services are protected and expanded for future generations.

Sincerely,

cochairs
