New Building, New Future!
New site in Binghamton will benefit patients, staff, community
PPSCNY recently closed on the sale of a 12,000 square ft. building at 117 Hawley Street in downtown Binghamton for $510,000. The clinic and education offices will remain at 168 Water Street until the current lease ends in January 2008.
Debra Marcus, CEO of PPSCNY, called the purchase a proud investment in the community. “Planned Parenthood has been such a vital part of downtown Binghamton for nearly 70 years. Buying this beautiful new building will help us realize our dream of security and expansion for our important medical and educational services.”
The move is truly a win-win situation. The new building, which is on the corner of Hawley and Carroll Streets, is in the heart of downtown Binghamton, on the bus line, and in walking distance of neighborhoods and stores.
In addition to more exam rooms and double the amount of current space for educational programs, the new building will have a large, private office for patients to meet with PPSCNY’s benefits specialist, who can help them sign up for free or low cost services.
Marcus said employees, patients and community members are thrilled about the new building. “We've already received such great feedback about the move,” she said. “People have enthusiastically supported our decision.”
After nearly 70 years in Binghamton, it’s exciting to finally have a home to call our very own.
