Local Clergy Lobby for Sex Ed

Clergy

Rev. Gary Doupe, Assemblymember Donna Lupardo, Rev. Carol Krause, and the Very Rev. Noreen Suriner met in Albany last Spring to discuss the Healthy Teens Act and state support for family planning.

Clergy support sex ed in public schools – and they’re willing to speak up for it!

Nearly 100 clergy of several faiths from across New York State, including The Very Rev. Noreen Suriner of Trinity Memorial Church in Binghamton, Rev. Carol Krause of East Side Congregational Church in Binghamton, and Rev. Gary Doupe, Co-chair of PPSCNY’s Board met with state legislators in Albany in support of comprehensive sex education for youth on May 10, 2006. They joined members of Concerned Clergy for Choice and the Religious Coalition for Reproductive Choice to advocate for passage of the “Healthy Teens Act” which supports age appropriate, medically accurate sexuality education in New York State public schools.

Clergy have always been deelpy involved in the pro-choice movement and PPSCNY warmly welcomes their activism. For more information, please call 607-723-5130 ext. 232 or write to ppscny@ppfa.org.
