PPSCNY Applauds Drop in Abortion Rate
Over the summer, several media sources documented reduced numbers and rates of abortions in the U.S. in 2005. In fact, the number of abortions was at the lowest level in 30 years. We at Planned Parenthood of South Central New York (PPSCNY) applaud this and believe it is largely due to increased access to contraception, emergency contraception and medically-accurate sex education that all Planned Parenthood clinics offer throughout the country.
In 2005, PPSCNY provided family planning services, annual exams and birth control to nearly 10,000 people in Broome, Chenango, Delaware and Otsego counties. These patients received treatment and information that improved their health and well-being.
For nearly 70 years, we have been working in our community to reduce the need for abortion and to ensure that every child is wanted and loved.
