Planned Parenthood, as lead agency for the Sidney Area Community Based Adolescent Pregnancy Prevention Program, Project REACH, and Delhi College’s Self Knowledge Inventory for Life Long Success in the 21st Century (SKILLS 21) program have paired together to reduce the rate of teen pregnancy. The unique, multi-year program combines a residential college experience with exciting opportunities for students to explore college, career options, and gain positive social skills.

A total of 15 students who started with the program in the summer of 1997 are now on the way to the rest of their lives.  Almost all have finalized their plans and most will be attending college.

Three of the graduates will attend Delhi College and receive the SKILLS 21 $1000.00 Incentive Scholarship. Other SKILLS students will be attending Broome Community College, Cobleskill Community College, Elmira College, Finger Lakes Community College, Ithaca College SUNY Cortland, SUNY Potsdam, and Old Dominion.

In addition to four years of experiences and memories, each SKILLS graduate received a certificate honoring their achievements.

This year will mark the fifth summer for SKILLS 21. As of July 17th, the newly enrolled class of 2005 will join students from the classes of 2004, 2003, and 2002 for another exciting SKILLS experience.
